Symplectic geometry and analytical mechanics

‘Symplectic geometry and analytical mechanics’ is lecture conducted by Katarzyna Grabowska from University of Warsaw, Faculty of physics, department of Mathematical Methods in physics.

 

Abstract

We shall review basic notions of isotropic, coisotropic and Lagrangian submanifolds of a symplectic manifold, in particular the cotangent bundle. We shall disscuss three procedures of generating Lagrangian submanifolds of T*Q and look for examples coming naturally from Legendre transformation in Analytical Mechanics. It will be convenient to use the Tulczyjew Triple approach, which will be explained in detail.
